We have an excellent opportunity for a caring and passionate Deputy Nursery Manager to join this renowned Private Nursery in Leeds.
About the companyThe nursery is a homely setting, spread over two purpose built units within the beautiful grounds of Morwick hall. Each being bright, spacious and well equipped. Served by a dedicated team who ensure the children in their care not only receive the best possible standards of care, but are supported in their social, emotional and academic development.
The nursery has many additional benefits including a dedicated garden for the children to play in, full use of the grounds for nature walks, a woodland school area and their own mini bus to take children out on daily trips to the local parks, farms etc. Along with their own in house chef and catering team who produce healthy, fresh seasonal homecooked meals and snacks. They recognise the hours in childcare are long, with that in mind they offer their full time employees the opportunity to choose a four or five day week.
About the role and responsibilitiesThe role of Deputy Nursery Manager will report into the General Manager and will support the GM with the day to day running of the nursery overall. Whilst also being a dedicated manager to one of the units, either the 0-2 years or 2-4 years setting which they will oversee and manage the day to day running. Typical responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with the General Manager and your wider team of Nursery Practitioners, to provide direction, guidance and support and ensure the daily timetable runs smoothly
- Ensuring the highest standards of childcare and safeguarding are always maintained
- Model best practice to those in your team and lead by example
- Training and development of new starters and mentoring existing team members who are undertaking their professional qualifications.
- Take the lead in terms of liaising with parents and forming positive and trusting relationships
- Take responsibility for tracking and logging the children’s development, planning and maintaining learning journals
- Carry out day-to-day aspects of caring for the children
- Work with the General Manager managing staff performance and motivation along with contributing to parent reviews
About you
To be successful for the role of Deputy Nursery Manager, you will ideally be qualified to level 3 or above or perhaps an early years professional and you must have / be:
- Organised, with a warm, charismatic and tactful manner
- Can remain calm under pressure, have an optimistic and solution focused approach along with the ability to quickly build strong relationships with both your team and parents
- Previous experience in childcare and people management would be advantageous
About the Rewards
For the position of Deputy Nursery Manager, you will work 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday and you will receive:
- A salary of £27,664 - £34,580 per annum based on either a 4 or 5 day week
- 28 days holiday pro rata
