Our client delivers Adult Weight Management Services commissioned by Dudley Council and they have a great opportunity for a Healthy Lifestyle Advisor to join their team. A full job specification will be sent to you on application.
About the role
This transformative service seeks to work collaboratively with communities to support transforming services for the local population, providing integrated behaviour support for weight management. As a Healthy Lifestyle Advisor, responsibilities include:- Delivering weight management programmes including nutrition, behaviour change and exercise to groups through one-to-one’s, in the community and digital methods such as Zoom / phone appointments
- Delivering programmes with a client-centred approach using skills of positive psychology and motivational interviewing and monitoring client's progress through regular consultation
- Working with clients and stakeholders to co-produce in-session materials
- Contributing to the contract performance report by submitting regular case studies to the project lead
- Keeping detailed files, recording data accurately, ensuring all forms and other documentation is completed correctly
- Build community links and partnerships working to encourage new referrals into the service and maintain close working relationships with other community services
- Present service and referral pathway information at stakeholder meetings
- Organising own workload in order of priority and deadline dates
- Delivering NHS Health Checks and Healthy Eating Workshops
About the remuneration
For the role of Healthy Lifestyle Advisor, there is a salary on offer of £22,308 per annum and you will work 37.5 hours per week, including evening work and some weekend cover.
About you
The ideal candidate for the role of Healthy Lifestyle Advisor will have / be:- Passionate about promoting healthy lifestyles and delivering client-centred motivational change
- A background in nutrition, exercise, health improvement, adult and/or family weight management An excellent team player with a willingness to learn and develop
- Able to travel independently across Dudley
- Work flexibly and adapt to suit service need including evening and occasional weekend work as required
- Must be willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check
Qualifications and experience required
- Educated to degree level or relevant equivalent experience
- Working with Adults or Children and Young People and facilitating 1:1 and group workshops in an age-appropriate and engaging manner
- Delivering groups and/or one-to-one behaviour change
- Delivering health promotion / public health interventions in community settings
- CIMSPA (previously REPS) qualified Level 2 Gym instructor/Group exercise award or equivalent
- Registration with CIMSPA (this can be obtained within 6 months of employment)
- Working with hard to reach groups and tackling health inequalities
- Working within a multi-disciplinary team
- Previous paid or voluntary experience working with people
- Building professional relationships
Skills & Knowledge
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly with people
- Excellent administration, record keeping and data collection skills
- IT literate, preferably with experience using Microsoft Office
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- High attention to detail
- Pro-active approach and ability to work on own initiative
- Ability to manage stressful situations and cope in a fast-paced work environment
- Can cope with unpredictable work patterns and work well under pressure
- Able to work as part of a team and independently
