Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join this well-established main contractor based in Harlow, Essex. You will manage your own time but will be expected to attend the office at least twice per week and attend project sites as and when required. There is an element of flexibility with regard to homeworking.

Our client delivers high quality work, carrying out refurbishment/alteration schemes across the Education, Heritage, Residential, Public Buildings and Commercial sectors ranging in value between £500k to £5m. With a head office in Harlow, Essex, they service London and the Home Counties with aims to extend into Cambridgeshire.

About the role
As a Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible for the surveying and financial management of site-based projects. This is a busy and varied role where you will play a crucial role in the success of the business and your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out surveying and financial management of site-based projects and sub-contractor procurement
  • Financial management of site-based projects, maximising profitability, and minimising costs
  • Initiating and pursuing value engineering opportunities where appropriate
  • Ensuring accurate forecasting and reporting
  • Formulating and substantiating EOT/L&E claims when required
  • Promptly settling subcontractor final accounts
  • Submitting full detailed final accounts to the client as soon as practicable
  • Follow up on retentions and aged debtors
  • Liaise with the client and client representatives, contracts managers within the team and site management staff maintaining good relationships
  • Attend client/site meetings as required
  • Ensure strict adherence to deadlines for getting orders out on time and getting valuations/CVRs/payments in on time
  • Support other areas of the business as and when required e.g., estimating

About you
As a Quantity Surveyor you must be / have:

  • A Quantity Surveying HND or Degree
  • Proven surveying experience in a similar role
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A flexible approach
  • A full driving licence
  • DBS clearance (due to working within schools). The company will make this application for you.

About the rewards
For the role of Quantity Surveyor, there is an excellent salary on offer of £65,000 to £70,000 per annum, depending upon experience plus benefits including:
