We have an excellent opportunity for a Clinical Assistant to join the team at one of the UK's leading national children’s charities in a state of the art building in Newcastle under Lyme.
About the role
As a Clinical Assistant you will be supporting the multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of an effective clinical service by supporting the assessment and delivery of workshops and your main duties will include:- Identifying and communicating to wider team any issues of concerns or risk relating directly to a child/family as a result of clinical observations made
- Attending and contributing to clinical and business multi-disciplinary team meetings
- Administrative tasks, e.g. telephones, scanning, record keeping, stock control
- Assisting in the running of workshops within the autism service pathways
- Adapting practice to meet individual circumstances, including due regard for cultural and linguistic differences and mode of communication
- Sourcing resources to support assessment and workshops for individual children and families
- aAssisting with holistic assessment of service users including use of verbal and non-verbal methods of communication, technology and observation skills
- Demonstrating empathy with children, carers and families and colleagues, ensuring that effective communication is achieved, using a range communication e.g. signs and symbols
- Developing the ability to manage children with behaviours that challenge including the application of appropriate preventative management strategies
- Preparing rooms in readiness for sessional work in line with pathways and clear away safely at the end of sessions.
About the hours & rewards
The role of Clinical Assistant is a full time position, 37.5 hours per week and there is the potential for working from home 1 day a week once probation has been passed.
There is a salary on offer of £22,500 per annum, plus £500 performance/company related bonus pa. You will also receive 27 days holiday plus bank holidays – increasing further with service, lots of opportunity to learn and grow and to be part of something making a real difference in the world.
About you
As a Clinical Assistant, you must have/be :- Education to GCSE level including Numeracy and Literacy level 2 qualification or equivalent
- Level 3 or NVQ 3 in health related subject or equivalent e.g. NNEB
- Knowledge of Safeguarding principles and their application when working with children and families.
- Experience of working with children, for example as a clinical/teaching assistant or similar role
- Excellent team-working, communication, interpersonal, time management and organisational skills
- An openness and willingness to learn new skills and to put these into practice
- A personal commitment to the organisation’s values and principles, and approaches to equality and diversity
- A positive can-do attitude with the ability to work under pressure
- A commitment to uphold the rights of children; vulnerable and disabled people.
- Undertake personal and professional development in order to meet the changing demands of the role
- IT Skills, including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook and e mail.
